Active Adult Recreation
The goal of the Parks and Recreation Department is to provide the residents of Wilsonville with a wide variety of programs, services, and recreational opportunities that promote health, wellness, and enjoyment.
If your goal is life-long learning, there are a wide variety of classes available for active adults. Discover the health benefits of Tai Chi, yoga or Pilates or get moving with Zumba Gold. The classes are available for registering online. Individuals of all ages are invited to participate.
In addition to classes, many drop-in programs and ongoing activities are available for no charge. Join the Wilsonville Walkers on Tuesdays or Thursdays, sing along with the I-5 Connection music group, play bridge or pinochle, learn how to knit or watercolor, go on a trip, socialize with friends over lunch, or check your e-mail from one of our computers.
Program Highlights: Age Friendly
Challenge your mind and keep your memory sharp with our free lunchtime lecture series. These informative sessions are provided by local professionals and focus on health, wellness, nutrition, and legal issues. Participants are asked to register in advance, and are invited to join us for a freshly prepared hot lunch, or may bring a brown bag.
The I-5 Connection chorus fills the Community Center with old time tunes and holiday favorites every Thursday from 10:00 am to Noon. The group features two main performances each year, offering seasonal fare at a Yuletide celebration and a variety of popular songs in the spring. In addition, the group makes regular visits to retirement facilities and performs at community events. Membership dues of $10 per month are requested after an initial trial period.
Additionally, Parks and Recreation offers Social Services for Adults 60+, which include: freshly prepared meals Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and five home delivered meals per week. A variety of support groups and clinics are also available, many of which are free or nominally priced. Caregiver Support, Healthy Changes Diabetic Support, Alzheimer's Support and Bereavement Support Groups are offered monthly. The clinics include: blood pressure checks, foot care clinic and assistance signing up for Medicare.
If you’d like to keep up to date on all the current happenings at the Center, just drop in and sign up to receive the “WCSI Gazette” newsletter, which comes out monthly.
