Boeckman Road Corridor Improvements

Boeckman Road is closed to through traffic between Canyon Creek Road and Sherman Drive. This closure is needed to remove the “Boeckman dip” by constructing a new bridge; the project includes additional improvements to make the road safer for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. During the closure, all thru traffic on Boeckman Road is being detoured via Stafford Road or Canyon Creek Road to Elligsen Road.
The bridge is on track to be substantially completed early this summer, re-opening Boeckman Road to two-way thru traffic. The suite of projects that comprise the Boeckman Road Corridor Improvement Program will continue wrapping up with utility line/pole removal, and minor items such as sidewalk panels to complete into early fall.
April - May 2025 - Project Update
On Wednesday, May 21, Boeckman Road will re-open. After the re-opening, there will be miscellaneous lane and sidewalk closures to allow for final contractor activities.
A Grand Opening Event. The City of Wilsonville is hosting a ribbon-cutting celebration to commemorate the completion of this significant infrastructure project, which supports current and future growth in the Frog Pond neighborhoods and provides the Wilsonville community with a safer, more efficient transportation route accommodating vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian traffic.
The City invites neighbors and interested community members to attend this free event, on Tuesday, May 20, at 4:30 pm. The event will take place on Boeckman Road between the east end of the new bridge and Painter Drive. To avoid neighborhood congestion, parking is encouraged at Meridian Creek Middle School where attendees can take a SMART shuttle or walk the half-mile to/from the event.
The Boeckman Road Corridor Project consists of seven project components. Four project milestones were reached earlier this year:
- Meridian Creek Culvert Replacement – Complete
- Temporary Signal at Stafford Road and 65th Street – Complete
- Boeckman Sewer Extension – Complete
- Joint Utility Trench for Franchise Utilities/ PGE Relocation - Complete
In April and in May, the final three milestones will be achieved:
- Boeckman Road Improvements
- Boeckman Dip Bridge
- Roundabout at Canyon Creek Road
The contractor is putting the final touches on the bridge and roundabout at Canyon Creek Road and completing the Boeckman Road paving with signing and striping to prepare for its re-opening.
A second phase of the project, scheduled to take place in 2026, will remove the remaining embankment from the Boeckman Dip, and take out the existing culvert and its flow control structure to allow for the restoration of Boeckman Creek beneath the new bridge. This additional work can be completed without complete road closures.
What to Expect Next
Please note: the scheduling below is subject to change depending on weather or other unexpected conditions.
Boeckman Road Improvements
Between Sherman Drive and Stafford/Wilsonville Road:
- Paving April 21-25 (weather permitting) – lane shifts and flaggers
- Final pedestrian ramp refinements and miscellaneous sidewalk pours.
- Final landscaping.
- Punch list work through the summer.
Boeckman Dip Bridge
- Final bridge rail work and streetlight installation.
- Complete stormwater pond below the east side of the bridge.
- Texture bridge deck.
- Phase 2 - existing embankment dig out, culvert and flow control structure removal, and Boeckman Creek restoration is expected to begin in 2026.
- To avoid damage, the trail will not be paved until the Boeckman Creek restoration and the Boeckman sewer project, which will use the trail for construction access, are complete.
Roundabout at Canyon Creek Road
- Final concrete and curb work.
- Landscaping will be planted in the spring.

About the Project
Boeckman Road provides a vital connection through Wilsonville as one of three primary east/west corridors for travel. With new Wilsonville neighborhoods in the Frog Pond area and a new primary school on the way, the road is even more essential.
The Boeckman Road Corridor Project provides upgrades on Boeckman Road between Canyon Creek Road and Wilsonville/Stafford Roads to make it safer and easier for all users —drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and riders — along the corridor.
To minimize disruptions, speed up completion, and provide cost efficiencies, the project combines four projects in one.
These include:
- Boeckman Dip Bridge Construction
- Sewer Extension between Stafford Road and Boeckman Dip
- Boeckman Road Street Improvements
- Canyon Creek Road/Boeckman Road Intersection Improvements

WHY BUILD THE BOECKMAN BRIDGE AND ROUNDABOUT?
We’ve heard from residents asking, “Why is the City building a bridge across Boeckman Creek?” And “Why build a roundabout?”
The most important reason is safety for our community. Today the Boeckman Dip has substandard features that contribute to unsafe travel conditions:
- Two narrow travel lanes
- No shoulders
- Steep grade
- Limited sight distance to see and be seen
- No bike lanes
- Sidewalk on only one side
Resulting in:
- Limited access for those that have trouble trekking up and down steep hills.
- Difficult and hazardous bicycle travel.
- Insufficient sight distance contributing to rear end crashes at Canyon Creek Road.
- Frequent reckless driving
The bridge will greatly reduce these risks and ensure safer travel now and well into the future.
The roundabout at Canyon Creek Road will keep traffic moving much more efficiently over time than the current 4-way stop. Roundabouts have proven to provide safe, cost effective, low maintenance intersection solutions. In order to coordinate it with the bridge, the best time to build it is now.
Project Timeline
The bridge is expected to be open in June of 2025, subject to change.
Overall project completion is expected in October of 2025, subject to change.

Project Overview
Boeckman Dip Bridge Construction: The project upgrades a section of Boeckman Road constructed in the 1960s.
- Constructs a new bridge over Boeckman Creek
- Upgrades the existing steep, narrow, rural roadway to an urban standard
- Reduces slope of roadway and improves visibility for drivers, pedestrians, emergency responders and transit vehicles
- Builds safe bicycle and pedestrian facilities to make it safer and easier to walk, run, and cycle
- Removes culvert for future project to improve fish passage
- Enhances the creek’s natural resources and treats stormwater for improved water quality
Boeckman Creek Regional Trail Connection: Constructs a section of the Boeckman Creek Regional Trail between the new bridge and Frog Pond. Future construction will connect the trail to Memorial Park.
Boeckman Road Sewer Improvements: Constructs approximately one-half mile of new sanitary sewer trunk on Boeckman Road to serve the Frog Pond area. The new sewer will connect existing sewer lines between the new bridge on the west and Wilsonville/Stafford Roads on the east.
The Boeckman Road Street Improvements: Improves the existing roadway between Canyon Creek Road and the Wilsonville/Stafford intersections to accommodate all users—drivers, riders, pedestrians, and cyclists. The design will incorporate Safe Routes to Schools elements for the future primary school and Meridian Creek Middle School and protected crossing elements for neighborhood connections.
Canyon Creek Road/Boeckman Road Intersection Improvements: Constructs a traffic signal or roundabout at the intersection of Canyon Creek Road and Boeckman Road to relieve congestion, improve safety and traffic flow.
Stafford Road / SW 65th Avenue / Elligsen Road Intersection: To mitigate traffic impacts during closure of Boeckman Road for the bridge construction a temporary traffic signal will be installed to detour traffic at the Stafford Road/ SW 65th Avenue/ Elligsen Road intersection.
