Big changes are in the works as the City is going to start construction of the Boeckman Creek Flow Mitigation Project.  This project is actually six projects rolled into one to make stormwater system changes from the SW Parkway Avenue near SW Boeckman Road areas into the Coffee Creek and Boeckman Creek drainages.

Background:

In the early 1980’s development occurred in the City near Boeckman Road and Parkway directing stormwater away from their historic drainages: away from the Coffee Creek Wetlands and towards Boeckman Creek.  A dam was installed in Boeckman Creek to slow these new flows, which has been identified as a barrier to fish passage.  Under current state and federal laws, the decisions of the past need to be corrected and water restored to their property drainageways, as well as reconnecting historic fish habitat.

The installation of the Boeckman bridge has triggered these improvements to happen.  Two major projects exist, the dam removal and dig out of fill material under the new Boeckman Bridge.  When this work is complete, a natural waterway will connect miles of upstream and downstream habitat currently holding isolated fish populations.  The other major component is the redirection of stormwater flows near the SW Parkway Avenue near SW Boeckman Road areas

The redirection of stormwater flow involves modifications to stormwater facilities on private and public properties.  Work is expected to occur on the Siemens Campus in several locations, in Boeckman Road near the entrance to Siemens (full culvert replacement), on Parkway near Greenway Drive, Ash Meadows Lane near Greenway Drive, and finally the dig out under the bridge.

Traffic impacts and delays should be expected at Boeckman Road at the Siemens Campus entrance.

Minor impacts should be expected on Parkway and Ash Meadows Lane.

100% design drawings are being produced and expected to be delivered to the City this fall.
