Coffee Lake Wetland Restoration
The Coffee Lake Creek natural area is one of many stepping stones that connects the Willamette River with the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge to the northwest. The restoration of the 60-acre Metro owned property from a former agricultural site to a complex wetland habitat took more than two years. Only a short two weeks after the project’s completion, Metro team members and neighbors observed migrating ducks returning to Coffee Lake Creek.
The restoration took place in 2024 and much of 2025. Through careful planning and development, the section of Coffee Lake Creek running through the heart of Wilsonville is now a functioning wetland ecosystem. It provides habitats for wildlife ranging from birds and beavers to migrating salmon and deters flooding as a hydrological foundation.
